20th century Native American war club from the Western plain states
The Plains Indians of the central United States made several different styles of stone-headed clubs. War clubs with double pointed stone-heads, like this example, represents a classic plains Indian weapon. They are easy to recognize and stand out as a style all their own.
The stone is mounted on the shaft and remains solid , the leather strap that would go around the stone and
shaft is missing. The shaft is covered by cotton whith small strings that hold miniscule coloured glass beads.
This makes me believe this club was used for ceremonial dancing instead of warfare.
I have added a pictures that show the style and also the type of leather strap binding which is missing on my club.
