Enric Porta Mestre (1898-1993) - Paisaje de montaña

Beautiful original painting of a mountain village by Enric Porta Mestre (1898-1993) Pobla de Segur, Cataluña.

On the back of the canvas frame, there is a note in pencil "Vall de Barosa", this could be the location, it's rather close to his home town Pobla de Segur, however it's spelled Valle de Barossa.

Enric Porta Mestre was a Catalan painter born in La Pobla de Segur in 1898 and passed away in 1993. He was known for his work in children's painting, still life, and landscapes of his homeland. His style often included traditional frameworks with abundant use of impasto.

Porta Mestre exhibited his work in Barcelona in 1922 and later went to Paris to further his studies, where he met the fauvist Miquel Villà i Bassols. From then on, he spent summers in La Pobla de Segur. Upon returning from France, he exhibited in various salons and individually at the Syra Galleries in Barcelona, then owned by Montserrat Isern.
His works were well-received by art critics, who praised his honesty in painting, mastery of color, and unique artistic personality.

The work is in good condition. It has some cracks, perhaps intentional on the part of the painter. See photos.
