A beautifully painted oil on canvas landscape painting depicting ducks on a mil pond within a rural 19th century landscape by the well collected and listed artist Charles Grenville Morris.
Charles Greville Morris was a Manchester landscape painter, who was born in Lancashire in 1861.
Morris studied in Paris under M. M. Bollinger, Collin and Courtois. He exhibited from 1886 to 1894 at the Royal Academy and elsewhere - all of the works were landscapes. Titles include: “Winter in Finistere” 1887, “Thistledown” 1889 and“Evening, Cornwall” 1890.
Morris in St. Ives in Cornwall after 1892.
One of the artist’s paintings titled “Marshland” is in the City Art Gallery, Manchester.
Since 1998 the record price for this artist at auction is 4,708 USD for Cinerarias, sold at Christie's South Kensington in 2007.
Condition report In excellent professionally restored, cleaned and lined condition . Very fine craquelure commensurate with the paintings antiquity but virtually invisible unless under intense magnification.
