This exquisite Showa Era hand-carved sandalwood amulet / incense container (Kogo) set features two revered figures: Amitabha Buddha and the thousand-armed form of the bodhisattva Kwan Yin, both known for their protective qualities against evil. Each container is meticulously crafted, capturing the serene expressions and intricate details of these sacred deities.

Amitabha Buddha, known as the Buddha of Infinite Light, is revered in Japanese Buddhism for his compassion and mercy, guiding souls to the Pure Land. The thousand-armed form of Kwan Yin, also known as Avalokiteshvara, symbolizes boundless compassion, with a multitude of arms to aid countless beings.
