Nr 87857239
Up for auction is this EXTREMELY RARE first edition, 2nd impression of Ian Fleming’s second James Bond novel: Live & Let Die.
The second impression followed just a month after the first run of just 10,000 books, making this particular second print as close to a first impression as you can get.
Being just the second Bond book (coming a year after debut novel Casino Royale in 1953), print runs were minute.
As such this book is extremely scarce, and is now extremely difficult to find at all.
As the pics show, the book presents in very good condition for its age (note: the jacket is a high quality facsimile, in a protective Mylar sleeve).
The boards are clean and sharp, and the pages are still tightly bound.
The gilt medallion on the front of the boards is still bright (less-so on the spine), and overall, the cloth boards are in very good condition indeed (there is just a couple of very tiny splits long the top of the guttering of the spine).
Inside there is a neat owners inscription, and some spotting to the early pages, but beyond chapter two (p16) onwards, this clears up, and the interior pages thereafter are largely clean and bright and blemish-free - save for literally the odd bit of spotting here and there (see images).
Overall this handsome rare book would be the jewel any Bond collection. With first impressions now in the many thousands of euros, this is an exciting opportunity to own the next best thing- a second impression in good overall condition.
Do bid with confidence.
Will post worldwide, tracked.
Thanks for looking, happy bidding.
