Very nice US WW2 ARMY AIRFORCE (USAAF) / USN issue Variable Density goggles, made by American Optical. The order no. N228s-21036 on the lid of the tin dates this set to 1944. A nice pair of boxed American Optical Company, Variable Density Goggles. The rubber frames remain pliable and the adjusting knob operates properly, allowing the wearer to adjust the darkness level by adjusting the center knob.
