Japanese traditional hand carved wooden Noh mask - Fukai深井 with excellent workmanship and quality.
In the past, this mask was written as "Fuka" or "Fukaonna" and was called "Fukai Onna," a middle-aged woman's face. The name Fukai was given to this mask because of the depth of her feelings after a life of hardship and the depth of her sad expression. In particular, the mask has dimpled wrinkles that represent the love of a mother who has lost her child and is devastated by grief, and the mouth is similar to that of a Masu Onna. The eyes are slightly downcast, and Gensho, the 15th head of the Kanze school, also called this mask "Fukai," explaining its origin as a mask that knows the depth of life.
