This artwork received an Honorable Mention in the 2023 YOT Art Prize. This artwork has been part of the SOLO SHOW Plastic Nature 2024 in Juca Claret Gallery Madrid. This artwork was selected to be displayed at Cromática museum in Toledo in December 2023 and January 2024. The artwork creates a surreal world, blending the natural and the imaginary, where three species coexist: Napoleon, the panda bear; Eliza, the bamboo rat; and Carlito, the tarsier—currently endangered—; all transformed into balloons and set in a realistic setting: a bamboo forest. Each animal representation arises from the study of real fauna, which is then transformed into a balloon through a play of light and shadow. The composition of figures and details has been applied directly onto the canvas without covering, respecting the original tone and texture of the canvas; this approach, along with the elimination of the horizon line, seeks to evoke a sense of lushness and exuberance, immersing the viewer in an imaginary forest. The edges of the canvas have been painted, providing continuity to the work and emphasizing the intention to transcend the physical limits of the canvas, capturing the expansive and overwhelming essence of the natural environment that unfolds before our eyes. Materials: High quality canvas and acrylics The artwork is provided unframed, carefully packaged, and rolled in a tube for protection. The dimensions listed correspond to the painting once it has been stretched and mounted on a frame. The canvas itself is larger to accommodate framing: Once mounted on a 110 x 120 x 4 cm stretcher, the artwork can be hung without a frame, as the edges are also painted. The front and the back of the piece are hand-signed. A certificate of authenticity is included.
