大原女 Oharame
Oharame were Ohara working women who carried Shibas on their heads and went to Kyoto to peddle their wares. The costume of the Oharame is said to date back to the Heian period (794-1185), when the Awanonaishi, who served Kenreimonin at Jakkoin Temple, wore a costume when they worked in the mountains.
