Although the name may be misleading, Gewürztraminer is an indigenous Italian grape variety coming from the small town of Termeno, in the South Tyrolean province of Bolzano; its name originates from the union of its peculiar characteristic, aromaticity (in German Gewürz), with the name of the place of origin, Termeno (in German Tramin). Particularly fascinating and elegant, thanks to the varietal aromas of flowers and fruit that are amplified by the cold climates of this area, Gewürztraminer is loved by everyone and requested all over the world for its versatility in pairing with multiple recipes, both of Mediterranean cuisine than the Asian one.
Pale straw yellow with golden reflections, it opens with clear aromas of yellow rose, pear and litchi, candied citron and honey. When tasted it is velvety, perfectly supported by vibrant acidity and with a long finish with fruity tones.
Excellent aperitif, it finds an ideal pairing in preparations based on raw shellfish, sushi and grilled fish, to be tried on goose liver pâté.
