About the vintage

The vineyard is established on a sedimentary rock. Homogeneous on the surface with a sea of pebbles, the subsoil reveals on the contrary a complexity which makes the variety of the wines of saint-julien.

The wines of 'Gruaud Larose' combine finesse and balance.
Cut for a long, even very long, aging in the great vintages, they nevertheless require a good ten years of aging before softening.

The color is almost black, the wine releases powerful aromas of red fruits. In the mouth, it is fat, full and rich.

On the palate, the Larose de Gruaud wine is distinguished by its aromatic richness and balanced structure. The aromas of ripe red fruits, blackcurrant and black cherry harmonize with subtle notes of vanilla, tobacco and oak, resulting from aging in French oak barrels. This wine also reveals a beautiful complexity with fine and silky tannins, offering a long, persistent finish.

About the Domaine du Château ' Gruaud Larose'

Larose de Gruaud wine is a true jewel of the Bordeaux region, renowned for its elegance and exceptional character. Coming from the prestigious Saint-Julien vineyard, this wine embodies French winemaking excellence. The Gruaud Larose estate, founded in the 18th century, benefits from a unique terroir, made up of gravelly soils conducive to the cultivation of noble grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

The Larose de Gruaud vines are cultivated with meticulous care, respecting winemaking traditions while integrating modern techniques to improve the quality of the wine. The harvest is carried out by hand, guaranteeing a rigorous selection of the grape clusters, which are then vinified with artisanal precision.

Since 1725, the year Château Gruaud Larose was created, four families have succeeded one another: the Gruaud & Larose families, the Balguerie families and Sarget, the Cordier family and finally, the Merlaut family.

The Gruaud-Larose estate extends between Branaire-Ducru, to the east and Lagrange, to the west. Its very extensive vineyard (85 hectares) rests on a medium gravel soil. In the 18th century, the estate, owned by the Gruaud brothers, covered up to 115 hectares. The son-in-law of one of them, Mr. de Larose, took over the estate and became the tireless ambassador of this wine, which reaches the royal table, hence the famous formula that can still be read on its label: "the king of wines, the wine of kings". A well-deserved mention, because for many years, the wines have established themselves as the most massive and longest to evolve of the Saint-Julien.

Château Gruaud Larose is a château and a wine estate located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle in Gironde. Its AOC Saint-Julien wine is ranked second grand cru in the 1855 classification.

Château Gruaud Larose has always wanted to promote the place of Man in the development of its wine.
Throughout the generations, they have built what is currently Château Gruaud Larose.
Today it is an exceptional vineyard of international renown.
