It is an editioned work based on a piece shown in the solo exhibition “Still Lifes with Flowers” at Perrotin Gallery Shanghai in 2023.
Inspired by the traditional flower basket depicted in "Flower Basket" by Li Song (1166-1264), a court painter of the Southern Song dynasty, this new series presents a unique reinterpretation.
Takashi Murakami's iconic flowers, traditionally known for their cheerful and endearing faces, have evolved to sprout teeth. This transformation infuses the artwork with an element of danger, creating a distinctive blend of cuteness and menace.
This piece was sold by Official in 2024 in a limited edition of 300.
It is serial numbered and signed by Takashi Murakami.
