Nice copy of this authoritative study on the Assyrian cities of Nineveh, with 17 chapters from chapter I. To Chapter XVII. The book is richly illustrated with engravings, including frontispiece 'The King on his Throne Attended by Eunuchs and Winged Figures', and engraved portrait of Layard, and a map.
Published by Office of the National Illustrated Library, London, c.1851. Publisher’s original brown leather boards with blind stamped wild fruit and leaves to front and rear with indecipherable words, gilt titles and leaf design to spine. Top page edges gilt.
Book Dimensions: 19.5 x 13.5 cm and Number of Pages: 310 including appendix
Condition
Firm and well-bound copy. External covers are slightly faded, with light wear to corners, and minor rubbing to head and foot of spine. Internally; the book is in good condition. A printed name and address on top front free end paper page. Pages are clean, with light foxing, and marking spots to few pages. The illustrations in nice condition (Please see pictures).
