Nr. 90309905
Artist: Hajime Namiki 並木一 (b. 1947 - )
Title: Mountain Cherry Blossoms at Kougenji Temple (光厳寺のヤマザクラ)
Edition: 15/200
Date: 2015
Although better known for his woodblock prints, Hajime Namiki first began as a sculptor having studied under Shigeru Ogura and carved bird figures from wood. In the late 1970's he began carving his own woodblocks and producing his prints using traditional Japanese methods. Although he is generally known for his tree images he has also created prints of landscapes, Mount Fuji, dragons and flowers. He often incorporates gold or silver leaf into the background of his work.
Kougenji Temple is an old temple said to have been founded by Ashikaga Takauji during the Kemmu era (1333 - 1336 AD). The Yamazakura cherry tree at the back of the temple grounds is called the "Lady of Cherry Blossoms," also known as the "Hakusan Cherry Blossom". Blooming is late and has a different sense from Someiyoshino cherry trees.

Condition: The condition of the print is excellent. The print has never been framed or rolled.
Shipping: The print will be shipped securely and with a tracking number.
