Gérard Fromanger studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, then evening classes at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, Paris.
He becomes friends with the poet Jacques Prévert and the brothers Alberto and Diego Giacometti.
In the 1960s, Fromanger participated in the adventure of narrative figuration.
He is one of the founders of the Atelier Populaire des Beaux-Arts in May 1968, which produced wall posters and slogans of 68 accompanying the struggle of the workers. The same year, he shot film-tracts with Jean-Luc Godard.
Multiple personal and collective exhibitions.
