Colvin, Neville - 2 Original stripe - Modesty Blaise - 1982
Two Modesty Blaise strips by Neville Colvin, drawn in 1982 for ‘A few Flowers for the Colonel’ (written by Peter O’Donnell).
Modesty and Willie Garvin are set to rescue an old friends of Modesty’s, on on the way end up having to rescue a nunnery full of sisters who are being terrorised by Mexican bandits… here, Modesty has been whacked on the head by the Colonel and is being led to safety…
The strips included in this Lot are #5512 and #5513
This is a great duo of strips featuring plenty of evil baddies and our Heroine. Colvin uses a splendid variety of inking techniques and represents the horses wonderfully… it is extremely difficult to draw horses- have a try at home!!
Absolutely fantastic characters full of life in these drawings- I have added extra photos to really represent the artwork.
Both of these strips are unusually stamped with a rubber stamp which reads ‘cartoon department’. This is rare and not something present on many Modesty Blaise strips.
Please note- I am taking these photos in natural light, but it is now autumn time and there is a very golden light which is making these strips look more yellow than they are!!
The Modesty Blaise artists include Jim Holdaway, Enric Badia Romero, John M Burns, Patrick Wright, Neville Colvin and Dick Giordano for DC comics
