A great museum piece to any collector. Fantastic looking and very healthy wakizashi. You can distinguish both the hamon and the jihada clearly and they are of great quality. A superb work from the early-middle edo period in koshirae. Most of the koshirae such as tsuba and tsuka are from the same period. The tsuka is of exceptional copper work with two dragon menukis of exceptional quality. It is made without tsuka ito (stringing) in the fashion of the period. With a top quality stingray leather and superb and well crafted materials. The tsuba is made of iron with copper inlay, a magnificent example of quality and good work of the craftsmen of the time. The saya seems to be later, maybe 20th century or more recent, probably changed because the original one was in bad condition. The sword fits perfectly in the shirasaya but the koshirae does not fit perfectly due to the time, dilatations and humidity of the past, etc. something frequent in old swords, given that the purpose is decorative it is not a very serious problem.

The blade is in old japanese polish remaining in good condition, the jihada of the steel is detailed and full of details to appreciate. A masterpiece Worthly a museum and a great addition to any private collection.
