A beautiful post - impressionist style late 19th century oil on canvas by the French genre painter Émile Boivin (French, 1846-1920). Bouivin was known for his focus on Orientalist paintings but also painted rural landscapes within France. The painting offered is superb example of his work and one of the most attractive we've seen outside of his Orientalist genre work .

The painting invokes the atmosphere of harvest time within a pastoral French setting with two ladies collecting the harvest . A very tranquil painting which captures the mind by rather splendidly. The post impressionist style shows the versatility of Bovin who was a very accomplished painter of his period in a career that spanned several decades.

The artist work often an achieves good prices at auction and his work is held in a number of collections Worldwide.

Condition report: The painting has been cleaned and is very good unlined condition without any teapots to the back off the canvas. The canvas still in nice condition and in good tension . The original French ornate gilt frame is beautiful and has been restored . The painting is ready to be big on the wall and enjoyed.
