"Cinematographic picture books volume 1 " includes 284 cinematographic images of skiing with explanations and an introduction to a new form of motion photography.
The cinematographic shots in this book were taken by the film operators Hans Schneeberger, Richard Angst, Sepp Allgeier and the author (Arnold Fanck) himself and were mostly filmed in the magnificent ski resort of Arosa. The skiers depicted are mainly the Austrian champions from Innsbruck: Guzzi and Otto Lantschner, Harald Reinel, Walter Traut, Benno and Otto Leubner, Gumboldt, Höss, the Arlbergers: Friedrich Schneider, Luggi Föger, Rudl Fritz and the Swiss: David Zogg, Benni Führer.
Arnold Fanck (1889 - 1974) was a German film director and pioneer of the mountain film genre.
He is best known for the extraordinary alpine footage he captured in such films as The Holy Mountain (1926), The White Hell of Pitz Palu (1929), Storm over Mont Blanc (1930), Der weisse Rausch (1931) and S.O.S. Eisberg (1933).
Fanck was also instrumental in launching the careers of several filmmakers during the Weimar years in Germany, including Leni Riefenstahl, Luis Trenker, and cinematographers Sepp Allgeier, Richard Angst, Hans Schneeberger and Walter Riml.
Arnold Fanck is famous for many great photobooks like "Wunder des Schneeschuhs" (1925).
