Oribe ware is a type of pottery fired in Mino (eastern Japan) and was founded in the 17th century under the guidance of Furuta Oribe, a tea master and samurai from Mino. It is characterized by its innovative and extravagant shapes and color schemes, notably the green hues that amazed people during the Momoyama period. The ware often features large, deformed, and distorted shapes, which have influenced various types of Japanese ceramics.
The pottery is decorated with grapes, specifically wild grapes. Wild grapes symbolize abundance due to their plentiful yield, while the vigorously growing vines represent permanence, making them auspicious motifs.
The piece measures approximately 30 cm in size and about 5 cm in thickness. It will be carefully packaged and sent with the original wooden box.
