First edition copy of this wonderfully illustrated book, with 30 captioned colour plates painted by Reginald Barratt First published 1907. Text by Beryl De Selincourt and May Sturge Henderson. Beautifully and colourfully illustrated with tissue-guarded coloured frontispiece, and 29 fine colour plates from watercolours by the artist Reginald Barratt. It includes chapters on Phantoms of the Lagoons, The Nuptials of Venice, Venice of Crusade and Pilgrimage, Venetian Waterways, and Artists of the Venetian Renaissance. Published by Chatto & Windus, London, (1907). Publisher’s original light blue cloth boards with gilt design and gilt lettering on upper board and spine. Top edges gilt. Book Dimensions: 23.5 x 16.5 cm and Number of Pages: 185 + 4 pages of publishers’ works Condition Firm, and well bound copy. External covers are clean and in nice shape, slightly discoloured, with light wear to boards’ corners, and to head and foot of spine. Internally the book is in nice condition. No names or inscriptions. All pages are tightly held at the gutter. Inner hinges are very good. Light foxing to the margin of pages throughout. The text and plates are clean and bright (Please see pictures).
