True first of a very early Wodehouse book. Preceded the later Alston Rivers, Ltd. issue by several months, re-titled A Gentleman of Leisure.

Bound in black cloth with gilt lettering to front and spine panels and pictorial of woman illuminated by flashlight and flanked by silhouette of man holding flashlight to front panel. Colour frontispiece with tissue guard intact and 4 black-and-white plates internally, all accomplished by noted artist Will Greif.

No dustjacket as never issued with one. Tight binding with just slightest evidence of loosening on second interior page.

Boards very good with some minor marking to the rear and minor wear. See pics. Page edges a bit dusty from long shelf life!

Interior overall very good. Some random spotting and a few pages with evidence of dog earing but pushed back. Small tear to top of copyright page (See image).

Only annoying issue is a past seller has written a pencil description of the book in the front.
