Lamborghini - Aventador SVJ Roadster 1/800 - 2021

**This lot benefits from a reduced buyer protection fee of 4.5% (instead of 9%) which will be agreed with the winning bidder after the auction closes. You will be contacted by our team one working day after the auction ends. They will further assist you with discounts** HISTORY Latest in a line of spectacular supercar from Lamborghini stretching back to the iconic Miura of 1966, the Aventador was launched at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, replacing the ageing Murcièlago as the Sant'Agata factory's flagship model. Designed by Filippo Perini, the new mid-engine coupé borrowed heavily from Lamborghini's limited edition Reventón and the Estoque concept car. One of its more striking features was the scissor doors - a 21st Century supercar 'must have'. Like its predecessors, the newcomer was powered by a V12 engine, in the Aventador's case an all-new 6½-litre unit producing 690bhp. Power reached the ground via a seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox and electronically controlled four-wheel drive transmission. A top speed of 349km/h (217mph) was claimed by the factory, yet the French Sport Auto magazine managed to wind 'their' car up to 370km/h. The original Aventador LP700-4 was phased out after five years in production, since when there have been numerous progressively improved versions, plus, of course, the inevitable 'special edition' models. One of the most exotic and desirable of the latter is the Aventador SVJ LP 770-4, a track focused development of the Aventador S and SV, which was launched at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The 6.5-litre V12 engine had been revised and now produced 770bhp at 8,500rpm, while the extensive use of carbon fibre, and a titanium exhaust system, brought the weight down to 1,525kg. Lamborghini claimed performance figures of 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of over 352km/h. 'SVJ' stands for 'Super Veloce Jota', 'Super Veloce' meaning 'Super Fast', while the 'J' of 'Jota' is said to be a reference to the FIA's Appendix J for competition cars. On the other hand, give that Lamborghini has traditionally turned to famous Spanish fighting bulls for its model names, and the fact that the Jota is a Spanish folk dance in quick time, the SVJ moniker may have this alternative origin. Whatever its name's derivation, the SVJ is notable as the first production Lamborghini V12 to feature the Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) system of aerodynamic devices that works with the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Attiva 2.0 (LDVA 2.0) management system, using sensors to adjust the car's aero in only 500 milliseconds. Prior to the official launch, a camouflaged SVJ prototype had set a new production car lap record of 6:44.97 at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in July 2018 with Lamborghini test driver Marco Mapelli at the wheel, thanks in part to the use of the optional Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tyres.
