The first edition of this travel work regarding White's journey to the Ammon Oracle in modern day Siwa. The book is beautifully illustrated with 56 illustrations including 20 plates from photographs by the author during the journey, and two large coloured folding Maps. Published by Hurst and Blackett, Limited, London, 1899. Publisher’s original blue cloth board with gilt title and gilt vignette on the front board. Spine lettered in gilt. Top page edges gilt. . Book Dimensions: 23 x 15 cm and Number of Pages: 277 including index Condition Firm, and well bound copy. External covers are slightly discoloured at edges, with light wear to corners, and to head and foot of spine. Internally the book is in good condition. The first plate appears missing. Inner hinges are very good and pages are tightly held at gutters. Pages are clean, bright and unmarked. (Please see pictures).
