Romersk antikk kalkstein acephalus torso av Eros, 26 cm høy / 36 cm med stativ - Spansk eksportlisens - Torso

The young god is depicted nude, standing with his weight on his right leg. One arm is in a relaxed downward position, while the other is raised, accentuating the muscular tension in the powerfully modelled body. Although the head is missing, the torso can be identified as that of the god without the slightest doubt, given the typical physiognomy: he is standing naked and has the physique of a robust child. The Greek god Eros (Cupid was his Roman counterpart) was the primordial god of love and desire, and was also associated with fertility. In some myths, he was the son of Nyx and Erebus. He is also listed as the son of Aphrodite and Ares, although according to Plato's Symposium, he was conceived by Poros and Penia at Aphrodite's birthday celebrations. This would explain the different aspects of love. *The feet and arms are missing. Otherwise in good condition Provenance: Early turn-of-the-century collection from Constantine; SVV M. D. & O. C. S., France, April 2024 Statement seen by Catawiki. The seller guarantees that he is entitled to ship this lot. The seller will take care that any necessary permits will be arranged. The seller will inform the buyer about this if this takes more than a few days. For buyers outside the European Union (EU) a Spanish export license is required. This will take several weeks to arrange. Due to Switzerland customs regulations about antiques over 100 years old, this lot cannot be sold to customers residing in Switzerland. #ancientolympics
