Elegant and authentic living room coffee table in lacquered wood from China, Asian art, mid-twentieth century. The table top features at its centre a scene of traditional Chinese life: a musical performance. Asian hand painted decoration, enhanced with mother of pearl for the characters and objects. They are carved and polished, in semi-precious gemstones, the background decoration is hand painted. The frame is adorned nicely with incrustations of stone, jade and mother-of-pearl. The technique used to make this table is "luo-tien", in which the piece of furniture is encrusted with mother-of-pearl. Antique style. The table top is protected by a rectangular piece of glass. This beautiful table is folding inwards, consisting of 4 curved folding legs which makes this table very easy to carry.
