Distilia, a leading bottler of high-quality rum, has received two prestigious awards at the World Rum Awards 2023. The annual event, which recognizes the best rums from around the world, featured entries from some of the most respected bottlers in the industry. Distilia’s The Golden Age of Piracy New Yarmouth 1994 27yo “Rogers” is the World’s Best Pot Still 2023. It was awarded the Style Winner and Gold award in the Category “Pot Still, 11 Years & Older,”. Distilia’s “Rogers” was also awarded Bronze award for label design.
As the first Royal Governor of the Bahamas, which in 1718 was home to around 2000 pirates, Rogers’ main task was to get rid of them. He granted the King’s Pardon to all the pirates who would immediately stop their activities, yet there were a few, like Charles Vane, who never accepted it. Rogers even recruited ex-pirates, like Benjamin Hornigold, to use their insights and intelligence to chase down the stubborn ones.
