Authentic Shunga book from Edo Era ( 1603 - 1868 ) , anonymous work from end of 18th , begining of 19th century ; the rarity is the number of woodcuts ; 42 in total ( generally 12 or 24 )
19 woodcuts in color ( blue dominant ) 20 black & white , one double-page with title and another last one with contents , I haven't been able to translate it in totality ( old Kanji ) title is "Bitama Meikai Hyakuniko" ( Beautiful Soul, Underworld, Baby Girl ) The page with contents gives all the differents inspirations for the author, erotic poems .
The sheet are with very thin Japanese paper ( double thickness ) , binding with a blue silk thread ( stayed strong) , The face cover is damaged ( 1/4 is missing ) the last cover is complete with faded tone.
The plates stayed good, small folds on each, very small stains, slights traces. You will note that no insect traces are present.
The 3,4 last woodcuts half erased, but stayed visible.
Overall a fine work of more 220 years
