La lavorazione a guilloché, che prende la forma delle onde, copre il corpo in preziosa resina nera, sottolineandone così la forma leggermente bombata. Il dettaglio più affascinante è il rubino sfaccettato sul fermaglio dorato, simbolo dello stile singolare e avanguardistico di Virginia Woolf e della della sua grande creazione letteraria. Il pennino in oro 18 carati rivela la fine tragica di questa scrittrice di successo: i due olmi della sua tenuta nel Sussex, all'ombra dei quali le ceneri di Virginia Woolf furono disperse nel 1941, sono raffigurati per l'eternità in una magistrale incisione sul pennino creato a mano
