This is a beautiful set of two traditional Japanese kokeshi dolls by renowned artisans.
The red kokeshi is by Isamu Agatsuma, known for his elegant, minimalist designs that take advantage of natural wood grain and understated painting.
The black kokeshi is by Heizaburo Hamatsu, who delicately painted gorgeous floral patterns, expressing the beauty of nature.
Both works are kokeshi dolls in the traditional style of the Tohoku region. The unique expression of the fine brushwork in these works embodies the cultural heritage of the Tohoku region where these kokeshi dolls were created.
