Description: This is a mid-19th century medium format Ukiyo-e portrait of the actor Arashi Rikan, painted by Yoshitaki. Arashi Rikan was a popular Kabuki actor of the Edo period, and his distinctive facial expressions and costumes are beautifully depicted. This Ukiyoe is characterised by the actor's powerful design and, as an Ukiyoe produced in Kamigata (Osaka and Kyoto), reflects the popularity of the play and the actor at the time.

CONDITION: This Ukiyo-e is in good overall condition with good colouring, although it is age-toned. There are no major damages, although the edges are slightly damaged and creased. It can be said to be in a relatively good state of preservation.
