‘A Day at the Races’ was Queen’s first completely self-produced album. The album reached the top of the charts in the UK, Netherlands, US and Japan. A listener poll on BBC Radio 2 saw ‘A Day at the Races’ voted the 67th greatest album of all time. Critics saw the album as the reconfirmation of Queen’s position as the best third wave of English rock groups. The Chicago Tribune considered this album – together with ‘A Night at the Opera’ – as part of the band’s artistic peak.
