Sergeant. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by the English rock band The Beatles. Released May 26, 1967
Music scholars consider Pepper to be an early concept album that advanced the roles of sound composition, extended form, psychedelic imagery, record sleeves, and the producer in popular music.
The album had an immediate cross-generational impact and was associated with numerous touchstones of youth culture of the time, such as fashion, drugs, mysticism and a sense of optimism and self-determination.
Critics praised the album for its innovations in songwriting, production, and graphic design, for bridging a cultural divide between popular music and high art, and for reflecting the interests of contemporary youth and the counterculture.

Sergeant. From 10 June, Pepper topped the Record Retailer Albums Chart (now the UK Albums Chart) for 23 consecutive weeks, with a further four weeks at number one in the period to February 1968.
The record sold 250,000 copies in the UK in its first seven days on sale.
The album occupied number one on the Billboard Top LPs chart in the US for 15 weeks, from July 1 to October 13 in 1967, and stayed in the top 200 for 113 consecutive weeks.
It also topped the charts in many other countries.

Selling 2.5 million copies within three months of release, Sgt. Pepper's initial commercial success surpassed that of any previous Beatles album.
In the UK it was the best-selling album of 1967 and the decade. According to former Capitol executive David Kronemyer in 2009 and estimates he provided in MuseWire magazine, it had sold 2,360,423 copies in the United States as of December 31, 1967, and 3,372,581 by the end of the decade .
