DESCRIPTION
It was the combination of love for the land with the fruit of hard work that, in 1926, with D. Lúcia Borges Vinagre having inherited from her father, António Borges, Quinta de Santa Maria, in S. Miguel da Carreira, in Barcelos, came to be. beginning of strong wine development. After an innovative land consolidation process that continues to this day, the property's Vinho Verde began to be bottled, a pioneering activity in the Region.
In 1939, Quinta do Tamariz was acquired, equipped with a manor house, which became D. Lúcia's residence. In 1965, the Sociedade Agrícola da Quinta de Santa Maria S.A. was created, which operates the two farms. Founded by D. Lúcia's son, the architect António Vinagre, the Society is today managed by his grandson, Dr. António Borges Vinagre. From 1981 onwards, a vast program of restructuring the vineyards began, giving priority to the noble white grape variety Loureiro, recommended for the Atlantic strip of the Vinhos Verdes Region. Later, the white varieties Arinto and Alvarinho and the red varieties Vinhão, Borraçal and Touriga Nacional were added.
Our history, itself made up of stories, is the guarantor of our heritage. Along with the challenges of modernity, tradition lives with us and ensures the quality of our heritage.

WINE VARIETIES: Alvarinho & Arinto.

VINIFICATION
Part of Alvarinho and Arinto aged separately for 12 months in French oak barrels, the other part of Alvarinho aged 12 months in vat. Once the batch was prepared, it was aged in a 500 liter vat for another 12 months. After bottling, it aged in bottles for more than 6 months and was released on the market in November 2021. LIMITED EDITION OF 660 BOTTLES.

TASTING NOTES
Greedy white wine, full in the mouth, where the notes of alvarinho mix with those of arinto and Madeira, giving complexity.

SERVING
It goes well with more elaborate fish and seafood dishes, such as a cataplana. It pairs very well with roasted meat, such as turkey or lamb. Store in a horizontal position, in a cool and dry place, protected from light and temperature fluctuations. Serve fresh at a temperature between 10ºC and 12ºC. Consume in moderation.

VINIFICATION
An elegant blend wine made from the best traditional grape varieties, grown on the estate. This wine is the combination of grape quality and the experience and tradition acquired over 90 years. LIMITED EDITION OF 3000 BOTTLES.

TASTING NOTES
Wine with a citrus color, clear and limpid. An elegant blend, very mineral, with an intense aroma, with notes of citrus and stone fruit, a slight spice, with good integration of wood. A wine that is full in the mouth, fresh, with a long and persistent finish.

SERVING
It goes well with more elaborate fish and seafood dishes, such as a cataplana. It pairs very well with roasted meat, such as turkey or lamb. Store in a horizontal position, in a cool and dry place, protected from light and temperature fluctuations. Serve fresh at a temperature between 13ºC and 14ºC. Consume in moderation.

Very elegant white wine, with minerality and notes of salinity that make it a different alvarinho. A dry wine, more contained in aromas, but where fresh orchard fruit is noticeable. An elegant wine with a long finish that gives immense pleasure at the table.
