Iannis Xenakis (also spelled as Yannis Xenakis; Greek: Γιάννης "Ιάννης" Ξενάκης, 29 May 1922 – 4 February 2001) was a Greek-French composer, music theorist, architect, performance director and engineer. After 1947, he fled Greece, becoming a naturalized citizen of France.
Xenakis, who was a disciple of Le Corbusier and worked on the Philips architecture at the 1958 Brussels World's Fair, was influenced by Edgar Varèse's "Poème Electronique," which was exhibited and projected there, and worked on "Polytope," consisting of light, sound, and wires, at the Montreal World's Fair in 1967. In the 1970s, it was reproduced in Paris using laser beams.
This book contains many radial sketches, and I see... I wonder if he was thinking of something like a laser beam production. He also incorporated spatial selection into music through the world of architecture... In today's world, it's hard to understand because it's so obvious, but I'm sure that if someone saw this demonstration in 1967, they would have been blown away.
