【Product details】

This full-size genuine samurai armor set from the Edo period or Later is crafted from iron and features a kabuto (helmet), mempo (face mask) with neck guard, and a domaru-style cuirass. The complete set includes protective plates such as tassets, shoulder guards, arm guards, thigh guards, knee, and shin guards, providing a comprehensive defense typical of samurai armor.

The kabuto is adorned with a three-pronged vajra crest, a powerful symbol in Buddhism representing the indestructibility of wisdom and a revered tool of divine protection in battle.

The armor storage box is marked with a red hoshi-umebachi crest, which features a design of five outer stars and one central star representing plum blossoms. This crest is closely associated with Sugawara no Michizane, enshrined at the Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. The plum blossom, beloved by Sugawara, symbolizes resilience and is often seen in the family crests of samurai and nobility, especially those linked to the Sugawara clan.

The connecting cords between the cuirass and the tassets have some broken strands, with repairs made using twine. Due to aging, there are some areas where the threads have become fragile. If displaying the item long-term, it is recommended to either reinforce these sections or replace the threads. There is also a sticker marking a confiscation on the cuirass. The sticker on the cuirass reads, "June 7, 1991 (Heisei 3) by Fukuoka District Court - Provisional Seizure Sealing Label." This characteristic further enhances the uniqueness of this armor.

The armor shows expected signs of aging, including scuffs, scratches, dirt, stains, discoloration, dust, minor fabric tears, fading, fraying of the cords, and rust. Please refer to the photos to assess the condition in detail.

I am sorry, but the stand was partly broken when I received the statue. It can be mended/glued,l but it´s not so nice.
