Tenmangu Shrine is a shrine dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, known as the god of learning. Sugawara Michizane was a scholar and politician of the Heian period. He was respected by many for his learning and honest character, but due to a plot by his political opponents, he was transferred to Dazaifu, where he died.12 After his death, the shrine was dedicated to Sugawara Michizane, who was a scholar and politician of the Heian period (794-1185).

After his death, many Tenmangu shrines were built to repose his spirit. The most famous are Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine in Fukuoka Prefecture and Kitano Tenmangu Shrine in Kyoto. These shrines are crowded with many worshippers who wish to achieve academic success and ward off bad luck.
