Bio:
He was of Hungarian origin. He grew up in Budapest. From 1930 he worked in Paris. One of the leading representatives of geometric abstraction, a precursor of op art, or art using optical illusions. From the 1950s he tried to define it by formulating a series of manifestos. He called his abstract work kinetic plasticity, trying to create the impression of movement through the effects used in it. From 1960 the artist developed the concept of a plastic alphabet entitled "Planetary folklore" in theoretical manifestos. He wanted to use his artistic ideas to decorate buildings.
