A delightful pair of American Art Nouveau cups with porcelain liners, each measuring circa 6.7cm in height and together weighing a gross 193g, net silver weight: 125g. The silver holders stamped to the underside with maker´s marks of Mauser, used from 1887 to circa 1908. The porcelain inner cups hand painted in polychrome enamels to depict floral garlands, monochrome green to the exterior and a fine gold line delineating the rim. Marked to the underside with Lenox porcelain mark in green within wreath, a mark used from 1906 to 1930. Barring any anomalies, the combination of marks would date these pieces to 1906-1908. Stylistic traits appear to confirm this dating.
Provenance: From the Brussels estate of the former governess of the family of William Randolph Hearst Jr., a prominent family in the USA.
Condition: One short hairline to one porcelain cup, no other significant damages or repairs. Minimal wear commensurate with age.
