For sale is this beautiful Contax I from 1933/34 including its Carl Zeiss Sonnar 1 : 2 f = 50mm lens and the original Everready case. The set is in surprisingly good technical and cosmetical condition. The shutter works and sounds correct, the viewfinder is clear and the rangefinder functions accurately. The Sonnar lens is in, considering its age, awesome condition, all lenses are relatively clear and clean. Interesting to know, the particles visible on the photos are actually air bubbles in the glass itself, many of the lenses came like that out of the Zeiss factory, Zeiss stated, that they doesn't have an influence on the optical quality. To be honest, regarding the user experience, the Leica models at that time were without a doubt more easy to handle, but the Contax I surprises with little technical refinements such as the external focus control wheel on the camera body, which enables really precise focusing.
