Early edition of a Polyglot prayer book featuring selections from the Bible (Psalms, benedictions, canticles, etc.) printed by Martinum Iuuenem (Martin Le Jeune, d. approximately 1584), a sixteenth century Christian Hebrew printer located in Paris. This small format book was clearly published for students and for Biblical teaching. A 1528 edition exists which is much shorter (176 pp.) Two 1544 editions exist, one of which is 72 leaves (144 pp.) and the other of which (in the Library of Congress Collection) is 363 pp. like this 1554 edition. The present edition is apparently a reprint of that. Engraved device on title page; initial letters. Text printed in four parallel columns, two per page, in Greek, Latin, Vulgate Latin, and Hebrew. Good condition. 17th or 18th century calf binding with gilt spine and "L.H. de Labastie" on covers. Marbled endpapers. Gilt edges. Binding slightly worn. Contents fine. Paper a bit browned.
