In 1995 Jo Schoenmakers and Marjo de Vries decided to co-operate under their initials JAS/MV. From their background in sculpture/textiles the material porcelain had their mutual interest. Right from the start they focussed on making an applied product and searching for the ultimate limit in this. The last couple of years a natural division has become apparent as part of the work has taken a more autonomous direction, resulting in a basic and a plus collection. The different points of view and ideas of both artists find expression in these two collections, as the contribution to a product differs from piece to piece.
