Paar Yūzen birodo 天鵝絨 (Yūzen-geverfd gesneden en ongesneden fluweel) - Zijde - Signed 'Shōdō' 松堂 & Stamped - Japan - Eind 19e - begin 20e eeuw

A very nice pair yūzen birodo 天鵝絨 (Yūzen-dyed cut velvet) in diptych frames both signed and stamped. Large panels depicting elephant, leopards, tigers and lion in the jungle. The beautiful Japanese Art yūzen-dyed colours blend in with the two scenes together. The Yūzen technique is a traditional dyeing method that combines freehand drawing with the application of natural dyes. This technique allows fabrics to be painted with great precision and detail, allowing for the creation of a wide range of shades and tones. In the case of the Yūzen birodo tapestry, the Japanese landscape comes to life through a series of embroideries made with polychrome silk threads. With the silk threads cut it makes the texture of soft velvet. The use of polychrome silk threads gives the tapestry an extraordinary liveliness and depth. The silk threads are carefully selected to create a variety of colors and shades that convey the beauty of the landscape. Each thread is carefully woven and stitched to define the shapes and textures of the environment. The result is a play of light and shadow that brings the entire scene to life, giving a sense of three-dimensionality and movement. Another detail that is interesting is the way the glass is cutted and the caracteristics of the glass. With the small imperfections and the way the glass is cutted (as can be seen on the photo) the glass can be dated around 1870-1900. The frames and the glass are specially made for this diptych artpiece, because for yuzen birodo it is important to have a space between the art piece and the glass, so that the threads are not flattened and keep the velvet caracteristics. The two items are in beautiful condition due to its age. There are defaults and signs of age, the photos should be considered part of the description. The process and technique of the yūzen birodo 天鵝絨 can be seen on the last two photos of the description. Where you can see the cut and uncut woven threads around the copper wires. Inside the Netherlands and Belgium the art pieces will be carefully delivered door-to-door (no courier company). Outside the Netherlands and Belgium the items will be carefully packed, shipped and send with Track&Trace, insurance and signature on delivery.
