John the Baptist is depicted in full length, with one hand raised in blessing and the other holding a scroll with scriptures.
John the Baptist raised his right hand praising Jesus and with this action showed the only, right and true way and who is the leader according to the will of God.
In the upper left part of the icon, on a white cloud, Jesus is seen blessing John.
John is depicted with angel wings, a symbol of divinity.
