Beautiful Viking Era bronze pendant with very rare zoomorphic design made circa 900-1100 AD in the areas along the Baltic Sea. It depicts a bird with intricately crafted details on the obverse and reverse. Both sides consist of a head with a muzzle and an ellipse shaped eye, body with clearly marked stomach, leg and tail as well as a perfectly formed wing inside made of convex lines with originally preserved earthen deposits between their recesses. In the upper part of the amulet there is a loop for suspension so it could be hanged.
* Birds played a significant role in Viking beliefs. They symbolized various features and values, but also performed magical and guiding functions, connecting the world of people with the world of gods and spirits.
Dimensions: 44 mm (W) x 41 mm (H)
