Per Linnemann (1912-1999) was the son of the Danish sculptor Willie Wulff. Later he took the name of his father-in-law Schmidt. Per entered the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen in 1931 and worked as a sculptor, when he was between 30 and 40 years old, as a specialist in portraits. In 1949 he opened Palhus Stenøj (the sandstone) with his wife Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt (born Sprechler). They moved into a house to work and live in. The house was located in Sengeløse outside Copenhagen. Per designed and his wife managed the business. The articles were sold in the department store Den Permanente in Copenhagen. They also worked with Kjeld Jordan who designed several animal and bird figures that were produced. Other talents were involved in the pottery, including Jens H. Quistgaard, sculptor Billy Eberlein and the American-Cuban Hugo de Soto. After a major exhibition at Illums Bolighuset in 1957, the studio was accused of copying the designs of another major pottery - Saxbo. Unfortunately, some friction ensued at the time. In 1972, three years after Annelise's sudden death in a car accident at the age of 51, the studio closed. Palshus produced work that used grog techniques, glossy glazes as well as matte glazes. The colors were often in the blue, brown and beige tones typical of the Scandinavian earth. Annelise Linnemann-Schmidt's granddaughter continues the tradition of sculpture.

Vielen Dank / Merci!
