【Product details】
Discover the elegance of Japanese ceramics with this remarkable collection from the Showa era, featuring four unique tea utensils.
The gray Mishima flat tea bowl is a work by Asami Shozui, a renowned artist born in Kyoto in 1900. Trained under the fifth generation Kiyomizu Rokubei, Shozui's work has been celebrated at the Imperial Art Academy, Koten Exhibition, and the Ministry of Commerce Exhibition. This bowl exemplifies the Mishima style, with intricate inlay patterns filled with white slip, a hallmark of Shozui's craftsmanship. Made from iron-rich clay, it naturally fires to a striking gray to black color. Signed by the artist.
The Oribe ware cherry blossom tea bowl is by Kato Tadashi, a contemporary artist based in Kyoto. Oribe ware, a traditional Japanese pottery style from the late 16th century, is known for its distinctive green glaze and artistic designs. This tea bowl features a beautiful cherry blossom motif, adding a touch of elegance to any tea ceremony. Signed by the artist.
Included in this collection are two Ki-Seto Kensui tea utensils, used in tea ceremonies for discarding water or tea. These pieces are crafted in the warm, ochre-toned Ki-Seto style, known for its use of iron glaze, adding a touch of rustic charm. One piece is signed, while the other is unsigned. Good condition. Please refer to the photos for detailed condition.
