A superb antique hand-wrought rotating fireplace broiler/ gridiron, made in Belgium in the 18th/ 19th century. A piece with a lot of character and beautiful craftsmanship. This rare piece dates to the late 1700's, early 1800's and would have been used to cook food in an open hearth fireplace. The handle has a ring that made it possible to hang it above the fire, but gridirons were also sturdy enough to stand amongst the cool and this piece could be rotated while the feet stayed fixed. ca. 40cm high, 28 X 27 cm Overall good condition, one corner separated. The imperfections are consistent with age and add character to this piece. A beautifully crafted piece with a lot of charm and history that has the unique presence of antique, hand-wrought iron and would look fantastic in any interior or collection.
