As a follow up outstanding limited edition Balvenie 17 Year Old Madeira Cask, this 21 year old Madeira Cask finish was released in April 2016, initially as a travel retail exclusive only to Changi Airport in Singapore.

The whisky has been matured in traditional oak whisky casks for more than 20 years, then transferred to casks previously used in the production of fortified Madeira wine for a further period of maturation.
The Balvenie 21 Year Old Maderia Cask has been aged in “traditional” whisky casks for two decades, before being transferred to ex-Maderia wine casks for a further period of maturation.


Tasting notes:

• Nose—fragrant fruity and floral, orange blossom, fresh pineapple juice and a touch of spicy ginger finishing on some vanilla syrup.

• Taste—a lovely mouth feel with a real juicy edge, exotic fruit salad and barley sugar with runny honey, cinnamon spices and gentle oak vanilla.

• Finish—lingering and luscious, sweet and malty alongside swathes of vanilla and a spicy layer.

A travel retail exclusive, the whisky is said to offer notes of “exotic fruit salad, barley sugar, runny honey, cinnamon spices and gentle oak vanilla”.
