Valentina is a fictional character in the comic book series of the same name, created by Guido Crepax in 1965. The series, inspired by the seventh art, has a dreamlike feature and is full of quotes from history, art, and of course comics. In the plots, real and imaginary merge and loose their borders.
In this depiction, Valentina is portrayed with a female friend. Both shows sensuality and sexiness. They are surrounded by a multitude of insects of fantastic proportions; among them, a large Praying Mantis stands out, emphasizing the power of the feminine, able to break the dictates of male chauvinism.
On the lower left, the ever-present camera.
Luisa Mandelli, who recently passed away, was Crepax's wife and inspirational muse.
